  1. Do I have to apply a visa to visit China?
    A visa is a travel document issued by the destination country, which grants permission for the visitor to be in that country. China visas are required for visitors of non-Chinese nationality, whether for business or tourism. But if you travel in Hong Kong or Macao for less than 30 days, the visas are not required.
  2. What type of visa do I need to apply for?
    Before you travel to China, you need a valid visa to entry China. "L" Visa is issued to an alien who comes to China for sightseeing or visiting family members/friends. A tourist visa, issued to aliens who come to China for sightseeing and visiting relatives, is marked with "L" in the many kinds of Chinese visas. Visa L is characterized by a short duration of stay, usually 30 days, no more than 90 days, and could not be extended upon expiration.
  3. What kinds of documents are needed to apply for a China visa?
    Visas for individual travel to China are quite easy to get. You have to send your application to the consular section of the Chinese Embassy. The process usually takes 5-7 working days. The following documents are needed to apply for the visa:
